Proposed New Type Course
Extra Race Format
Dear Skippers
In an effort to reduce the possibility of cancelling races, due mainly to light winds, we are adding another type of course onto the remainder of the 2022 series.
We would envisage using this course when winds are so light as to lead us to believe that all boats may not be able to finish even the shortest course in the permitted time.
When appropriate we will run the scheduled race on a "windward/leeward" course.
The start line will be in the usual place (South Bull) and a mark will be laid directly upwind at an appropriate distance. Boats will race to the windward mark and back to the start line.
All classes will start together and code flag W will be used instead of Numeral Pennants 1 and 2.
Marks will be left to Port when rounding.
In the event of a second lap of the course being called for, the South Bull mark is the rounding mark, not the committee boat
As this is a new departure from our standard courses so we will advise (on radio) courses of action at appropriate stages in the race e.g., if there is any deviation from the above instructions or a second lap is deemed possible, we will advise, again over the radio using Channel 11.
The starting sequence for this format will be:
Minutes before Starting Signal Visual Signal Sound Signal Meaning
5 minutes Flag W One Warning Signal
4 Minutes Flag P One Preparatory Signal
1 Minute Remove Flag P One One minute to start
0 Remove Flag W One Starting signal
Thank You
Racing Team
